Right to Respectful & Ethical Care
Clients have the right to:
Be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion
Receive services in a safe and supportive environment
Participate actively in treatment planning and goals
Ask questions about therapy approaches, recommendations, and interventions
Refuse or discontinue treatment at any time
Receive care free from discrimination or harassment
Confidentiality & Privacy
Therapy is confidential, but there are legal and ethical limits.
Information shared in therapy is kept private and protected
Records are securely stored
HIPAA compliance
Telehealth confidentiality protections if applicable
Limits of confidentiality, including:
Risk of harm to self
Risk of harm to others
Suspected child abuse or neglect
Abuse or neglect of vulnerable adults
Court orders/subpoenas when legally required
Coordination of care with signed consent
Missouri mental health professionals are mandated reporters for abuse and neglect situations.
Fees, Payments & Cancellation Policies
Clients have the right to:
Private pay structure
Payment expectations
Cancellation/no-show policy
Superbills or out-of-network reimbursement availability if applicable
Good Faith Estimate Notice
Because we are private pay:
Clients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate under the No Surprises Act.
Telehealth Rights & Risks
Clients have the right to:
Telehealth uses secure technology platforms
Clients must provide consent for telehealth
Telehealth carries potential technology/privacy risks
Clients can request in-person services when available
Emergency situations may require local emergency contacts/location information
Missouri requires consent and confidentiality protections for telehealth services.
Professional Boundaries
Therapy is a professional relationship
Therapist must protect social media boundaries
There are clear communication expectations and clients are asked to email the therapist directly with all communication or directly message them through the secured Health Records.
Crisis limitations: Conversation Peace Wellness is not a 24/7 emergency crisis center. If you need immediate help, please contact 911 or your local police department.
Complaints or Concerns
Missouri boards expect clients to know how to address concerns.
Clients are encouraged to discuss their concerns with their therapist first.
Clients are then encouraged to discuss concerns directly with the practice
Information for the Missouri licensing board can be provided to the client if needed.
